Panasonic shows GaN substrate white LED headlights can improve design freedom
Panasonic on the "electronica 2014" shows a white LED for automotive headlights. Matsushita white LED is characterized by a blue LED chip was fabricated on a GaN substrate. Compared with the conventional sapphire substrate, is easier to improve the current density.
Since the current density can be improved, and therefore, a smaller chip size can be obtained with the use of the sapphire substrate product the same brightness. This will cause the headlights to achieve miniaturization, help to improve the headlights part design freedom.
In addition, Panasonic also exhibited the necessary driving white LED MCU and DC-DC converter. The narrator says, "Our strength lies not only provide LED, but also provide digital products such as MCU, as well as the DC-DC converter such as analog products." With this advantage, Panasonic Car LED products have begun to be adopted in the European market.
The on-board LED is next to the vehicle equipment with cooling fan showing. "This show is to let everyone know our entire thermal design, which is the heat from the LED, the thermal entrance until the cooling fan exit this hot design. We hope to emphasize the use of our white LED and drive components, combined with the cooling fan and (another show) heat graphite sheet, you can make the thermal design LED headlights easier. "
