US Department of Energy Solid State Lighting R & D projects funded

US Department of Energy has announced a new round of solid-state lighting (ssl) R & D project tenders, the selection of 10 projects, providing $ 10 million funding to accelerate product development led and oled. This funding opportunity is open to the following areas: the core technology - applied research to promote technology development, emphasizing achieving effectiveness, performance and cost targets; product development - development or improvement can be commercialized ssl materials, devices or systems; US manufacturing - through innovation and improved manufacturing, reduce product costs, improve product properties and consistency, accelerate the adoption of ssl technology.

 

2013, due to ssl technology and energy savings to reach $ 1.8 billion; until 2030, is expected to save up to possible $ 26 billion per year in energy costs.
